Food + Soju + Good Times
Chadol House is one of my favorite BBQ places. Their specialty is chadol-baki (차돌박이) or thinly sliced beef brisket, also one of my favorite cuts of meat. I started my blog with a write-up on a restaurant with the same name, and that Chadol House was horrible. I feel so relieved to share with you guys the REAL Chadol House.
Chadol-baki (차돌박이) KRW 15,000 per serving. I don’t know how they only charge half the price of other BBQ restaurants but it’s definitely one the best tasting chadol’s I have had. They give you good cuts of brisket with a 2:1 meat to fat ratio, at some other places you’ll get cuts where it’s mostly white (fat) and has no beef flavor. I love chadol but the only downside is that it cooks so fast, you have to maintain the grill non-stop.
Unmarinated sirloin steak (생등심) KRW 18,000 per serving. You can tell from the pictures that it’s not grade A beef like 투뿔등심, its more like the steak you get at the supermarket. The price is still very cheap relative to beef prices in Korea. The steak was so thin that you couldn’t control the cooking, i.e. medium rare, but because it was so thin it was tender by default.
I love the chadol-baki here, it tastes great and it’s half the price of other restaurants. This was my first time eating the steak here and I don’t know if I would order it again. The restaurant is very clean, the service is good, and it’s not as chaotic as BBQ restaurants tend to be.
